Trump Holds Phone Conversation with Indian Prime Minister

U.S. President Donald Trump has spoken with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The news was shared on social media X by the U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore. “President Trump just spoke with Prime Minister Modi,” the diplomat wrote, without specifying the content of their conversation.

Notably, a day before the phone call, Donald Trump announced that India would begin purchasing Venezuelan oil. This statement came amid discussions regarding energy relations between Washington and New Delhi.

Furthermore, last October, the U.S. president warned that India would continue to pay “huge” tariffs if it did not cease its purchases of Russian oil. According to Trump, he had talked to Narendra Modi about the issue, and Modi had told him that he “was not going to deal with Russian oil.” However, by early November, Trump had stated that India had “largely halted” its purchases of Russian oil.
