Human Rights Defender Representatives Visit Armavir and Goris Prisons: Individual Discussions Held

Under the instruction of the Human Rights Defender Anaid Manasyan, representatives of the Human Rights Defender's office conducted visits to the Armavir and Goris penitentiary institutions on January 29 and 30. According to the Human Rights Defender's office, individual discussions were held with persons deprived of liberty during the visits.

The discussions focused on the conditions for ensuring their rights, including issues related to health care, as well as necessary documents and detention conditions. Additionally, concerns raised by the persons deprived of liberty were discussed with the administrations of the penitentiary institutions.

“The results will be summarized, and necessary clarifications regarding the identified issues will be requested from the competent authorities. Issues related to the rights of persons deprived of liberty are under the direct attention of the Human Rights Defender. The visits by Defender Anaid Manasyan and her staff to the penitentiary institutions are ongoing,” the statement from the Human Rights Defender's office reads.
