21 Freight Train Cars Derail in Russia
In Russia's Kirov region, 21 freight train cars have derailed on a section of the railway. Fortunately, there are no reported injuries; however, delays for passenger trains are expected. This information was reported by TASS.
"According to preliminary information, 21 freight train cars have derailed. There are no injuries. Traffic in this section is currently halted. Delays for passenger trains are anticipated," the publication states.
A group specializing in emergency response has been established on the Gorky railway to coordinate the fallout from the derailment. Rescue trains have been dispatched to the scene.
The Kirov transport prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation into compliance with railway safety legislation. The Interregional Investigative Center for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is also conducting an inquiry under Article 263, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, regarding violations of rules governing the movement and operation of rail transport that have resulted in significant damage.
