New Air Quality Monitoring Station to be Acquired in Yerevan, Says Minister of Environment
In Armenia, a competition is set to be announced in the coming months for the acquisition of an air quality monitoring station. This was reported during a press conference summarizing the results of 2025 by the Minister of Environment, Hambardzum Matevosyan.
The minister recalled that an agreement for a grant provision was signed between the Ministry of Environment and the government of Japan for the purpose of modernizing the atmospheric air quality monitoring system. Under this agreement, it is planned to acquire modern automatic equipment for three additional monitoring stations and install them in Yerevan.
According to Matevosyan, another monitoring station, which will be funded by the state budget, is also expected to be acquired this year. He noted that the announcement of the competition is intended for the coming months.
He added that thanks to the three monitoring stations provided by the Japanese government and the equipment acquired from the state budget, there will be a total of six monitoring stations operating in Yerevan, which will ensure comprehensive monitoring of air quality.
