We Are Relentlessly Fighting Against This Evil: The Head of the State Revenue Committee on Corruption
Edward Hakobyan, the head of the State Revenue Committee, met with the leadership staff of tax and customs departments to coordinate actions against corruption. The head of the SRC emphasized his unwavering stance against corrupt practices and the necessity to continue the fight against them, stressing that no manifestation of corruption will go unanswered.
“Corruption and the shadow economy are evils, and we are relentlessly fighting against this evil,” Hakobyan highlighted.
The chairman compared the recent processes within the SRC to a healing process in an organism, adding that the symptoms indicate the health of the system and that this healing has profound reasons. One of the reasons is the significant achievements of the system. He pointed out the joint efforts with taxpayers to ensure state budget revenues and the reduction in the number of audits, indicating a significant shift in the efficiency of governance.
“It is evident that in such situations, there are people trying to throw mud on our successes and achievements,” the head of the Committee stressed, adding that by the results of 2025, the SRC will be one of the leading structures in terms of reform indicators.
Edward Hakobyan also spoke about significant discoveries related to smuggling and the shadow economy, which, according to him, have also alarmed various circles led by narrow personal interests. “The unrelenting course of reforms cannot be halted by anyone, whether from within the system or outside it,” he assured, emphasizing that the situation within the system is entirely manageable.
