Bulgarian Constitutional Court Confirms President's Resignation
The Bulgarian Constitutional Court has confirmed President Rumen Radev's resignation, as reported by Reuters.
“The Bulgarian Constitutional Court has confirmed President Rumen Radev's resignation,” the statement reads.
On Monday, Radev announced that he was resigning in order to participate in the early parliamentary elections. The following day, he submitted the relevant application to the Constitutional Court.
Following the confirmation of Radev's resignation, the powers of the head of state will immediately be transferred to Vice President Iliyana Yotova, who will take an oath before the National Assembly. She will then undertake the task of forming a temporary government and scheduling early parliamentary elections.
Previously, the President of Bulgaria had announced his resignation.
