French Naval Forces Seize Russian Oil Tanker

On the morning of January 22, French Navy forces seized an oil tanker that arrived from Russia, announced French President Emmanuel Macron.

“This operation was carried out in open water in the Mediterranean Sea, with the assistance of several of our allies. It was conducted in strict compliance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea,” he wrote on X.

According to Macron, the tanker was flying a false flag and is subject to sanctions, and an investigation has been initiated. “The ship's route has been changed,” he added.
