Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Fully Disconnected from External Power Supply

The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) has been completely disconnected from external power supply. This was announced by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, as cited by the agency's press service.

According to the agency, the power outage has affected not only the structures of the Chernobyl plant, but also the power transmission lines supplying other nuclear plants in the region. The IAEA explains the incident by the damage to the high-voltage infrastructure supplying electricity to the Chernobyl site and other power plants.

“The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) has lost all external power supply, and the power transmission lines supplying other nuclear plants have also been affected,” said Rafael Grossi, as quoted by the agency's press service.

The agency emphasizes that the situation is being continuously monitored, and the operator of the national transmission system is informing the IAEA of any developments.
