The Meaningless Event in Davos Promises to Be Interesting: Medvedev on Greenland
The meaningless event in Davos promises to be interesting. Instead of discussing the dead Ukraine, they will talk about frozen Greenland. This was stated by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, on Telegram.
"The situation here is generally clear. Timid European magnates, choked with calming medications out of fear, will persuade the stubborn individual to accept full guardianship of the island while officially leaving it as the property of the Danish state. They say, 'Do whatever you want: take the island for eternal, free use, freely develop its mineral resources there, build military bases, airports, missile sites, and any other structures for complete control.' However, Trump does not want that. Everyone understands that he wants to mark the island on the world maps with stars and lines (he has already published a map that includes Canada and Venezuela) and stand next to the Founding Fathers. He wants to remain forever in history. At the same time, he wishes to become similar to the President of Russia.
The latter is impossible. During the Second World War and through referendums, Russia returned its own lands that had been part of it for centuries, along with its people. Greenland is entirely different. It has never had a direct connection with the United States, although the latter has tried to buy it several times.
Meanwhile, the issue is not only the apparent desire of the U.S. President. Everyone excitedly describes how the exuberant Trump will consume the huge piece of land. And then he will spit in the wrinkled face of old Europe while simultaneously turning the United States into the world's second-largest power. Trump, of course, is in a hurry. After all, his time is inevitably running out. It’s time to write his name in golden letters on the tablets of history," Medvedev wrote.
