Let Me Apologize for My Phrasing. Hripsime Hunanyan Resigns

Member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction Hripsime Hunanyan has resigned from her position as the chair of the Health Committee of the National Assembly. She also added that she has withdrawn from being included in the proportional list of the "Civil Contract" party for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

“Dear compatriots,

Recently, some of my statements made in the National Assembly have been criticized by several of our citizens. First of all, let me apologize for my phrasing that has caused irritation and dissatisfaction among our beloved citizens.

Public speech is undoubtedly an inseparable part of political activity, and sometimes it is impossible to avoid mistakes during verbal communication. Everyone can make mistakes, and those who take on the role of public leadership are primarily obliged to confront their errors and correct them, serving as a model for all.

The best leadership is leading by example. I believe this should be one of the value benchmarks in our political field.

Guided by this benchmark, I have decided to submit my resignation from the position of chair of the Health Committee of the National Assembly. At the same time, I have decided to withdraw from inclusion in the proportional list of the "Civil Contract" party for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

I will continue to serve our state and our people on the path of strengthening the Republic of Armenia,” Hunanyan wrote on her Facebook page.
