Kyiv Loses 600,000 Residents in a Month, Says Klitschko
In several regions of Ukraine, the population is facing serious issues with water supply, heating, and electricity, with the most severe situation reported in the capital, Kyiv. According to the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, Kyiv is approaching the edge of a humanitarian crisis.
In an interview with The Times, Klitschko revealed that approximately 600,000 residents left the city in January 2026 alone. He noted that in some apartments, sanitary conditions have deteriorated due to frozen water in the supply systems.
The mayor emphasized that the exodus of residents is caused not only by infrastructure problems but also by general uncertainty and security concerns. He assessed that the disruptions in utility systems significantly complicate daily life.
