More than 160 million drams in damages calculated for air pollution
The Environmental and Mining Inspection Body of Armenia has recorded 617 violations related to air protection in 2025. "For 63 cases, the amount of damage caused to the atmosphere has been calculated, amounting to 160 million 881 thousand drams. I would like to emphasize that out of the total recorded 617 violations, only 217 were registered in Yerevan. We have recorded 15 cases of transporting non-transparent covered bulk materials. This is a positive indicator for Yerevan because, for example, when we started implementing this measure in 2021, we recorded more than 127 cases within a week. Time has shown that appropriate behavior is developing among our drivers in this regard," stated the head of the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body, Hovhannes Martirosyan.
There have been 99 recorded violations related to air protection in the construction sector, and 15 in the mining sector. Throughout the year, there have been 226 cases of burning of waste, leaves, and cables. "I once again urge our citizens not to burn waste or leaves. It brings no benefit; on the contrary, it pollutes the air, harms health, and additionally causes soil degradation, overall lowering soil fertility," added Martirosyan.
