Blizzard in Jermuk: Situation on Roads

The Emergency Services have reported that several roads in Armenia are closed due to weather conditions.

The roads leading from the 'Amberd' high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and Kar lake are closed. The Gndevaz-Jermuk road is closed for all types of vehicles due to the blizzard.

Additionally, roads such as the Vardenyats Pass (snow, blizzard), the Spitak and Dilijan bends, and the routes connecting Jermuk and Sisian from the Jermuk intersection, as well as the Novemberyan-Jujevan and Noravank-Kapan roads, are closed for vehicles with trailers and are difficult to navigate for other types of vehicles.

The Vanadzor-Dilijan and Vanadzor-Alaverdi roads are blocked for heavy trucks with trailers. The bends in Stepanavan, the Berd-Chambarak road, and sections from the M-4 road to Haghartsin and Paryzh lake are difficult for all kinds of vehicles.

In Kotayk Province, in the regions of Aparan, Aragats (experiencing a blizzard), Dilijan, Sevan, Chambarak, Martuni, Gavar, Sisian, Goris, Ashotq, and Amasia, there are patches of black ice on the roads.

Snowfall is reported in Syunik (excluding the cities of Meghri and Agarak), Ararat, Aragatsotn, Tavush, and Lori regions, as well as in Yeghegnadzor, Abovyan, Artik, and Ani areas.

There is a blizzard reported in the Saravan area, known as 'Zanger', and in the city of Jermuk. Motorists are advised to use winter tires exclusively.

Regarding the Lars situation, according to information from the Department of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles.
