Iran Plans to Permanently Shut Down Internet Access for Most Citizens

Iran is planning to permanently disconnect internet access for the majority of its citizens, according to The Guardian. Global internet access will be limited exclusively to officials and verified citizens, while the rest will have access to a national network that is fully controlled by the state.

Iran has been experiencing the largest communication blackout in its history for over 10 days. Earlier, it was reported that U.S. President Donald Trump would discuss the possibility of restoring internet connectivity in Iran via Starlink with Elon Musk.

Reports of internet outages in Iran have surfaced against the backdrop of widespread protests occurring in the country.
