German, Dutch, and Canadian Troops to Arrive in Greenland Within Hours

Denmark's allies, including Germany, Canada, and the Netherlands, are deploying troops in Greenland to participate in exercises amid increasing threats of invasion from Washington and other adversaries.

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced this significant step immediately after a local news release. Various NATO countries are strengthening their presence in the mineral-rich Arctic island following heightened threats of annexation by U.S. President Donald Trump, which has garnered support from certain members of Congress. This comes at a time when Russia and China are advancing their aggression in the Arctic, raising serious concerns for NATO.

“Security in the Arctic is of vital importance to the Kingdom and our Arctic allies, and therefore, it is crucial that we, in close cooperation with allies, enhance our operational capabilities in the region,” Lund Poulsen stated in the announcement. “The Danish defense forces, together with several Arctic and European allies, will explore in the coming weeks how to increase presence and exercises in the Arctic.”
