We Will Continue in the Same Spirit: Trump on the Situation in Iran
“We are determined to continue in the same spirit.” During an economic forum in Detroit, U.S. President Donald Trump made several statements regarding the situation in the Middle East and Iran. According to him, the U.S. must maintain the same political course that he believes has ensured relative peace in the region. This was reported by Fox News.
Trump reiterated his support for anti-government protests in Iran, stating that the country was a “great nation” before the current regime took power. He noted that U.S. actions against Iran have played a crucial role in ensuring regional security.
According to the White House leader, if the U.S. had not struck Iran in June of this year and neutralized its nuclear capabilities, there would be no peace in the Middle East. He also mentioned the kills of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Quds Force General Qassem Soleimani, presenting them as effective operations.
Trump did not comment on possible new strikes against Iran. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal, citing its sources, reports that Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar are trying to persuade Washington to refrain from such actions, expressing concerns that direct U.S. intervention could cause serious shocks in the oil markets and negatively affect the American economy.
