Azerbaijan Appeals to FIS Over Actions of Armenian Athlete

The State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan has officially appealed to the International Ski Federation (FIS) regarding the behavior of Armenian skier Mikayel Mikayelyan during the Tour de Ski competition held in Italy.

According to Azerbaijani media reports, the athlete covered the word "Azerbaijan" on his sports gear during the competition. The Azerbaijani side highlighted the need to tighten oversight mechanisms within the framework of cooperation in their appeal.

It is noted that in May 2025, FIS signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan. FIS has imposed a fine on Mikayel Mikayelyan, who stated that he did not make any mistakes.
