Pimblett Makes Controversial Comments About Tsarukyan
The British representative of UFC's lightweight division, Paddy Pimblett, has made harsh comments regarding Arman Tsarukyan's recent performances, focusing on his grappling matches and the year-end fight.
After recording four victories under grappling rules throughout the year, Arman Tsarukyan settled for a no-contest result in his bout against Sharabutdin Magomedov. Taking advantage of this situation, Pimblett criticized Tsarukyan.
In an interview with The MMA Guru, he stated that Tsarukyan's performance on the ground did not impress him, noting that the latter faced issues even against fighters with striking styles. Pimblett also hinted that he was not convinced by Tsarukyan's victory over Dan Hooker in the UFC, despite the fact that the fight ended prematurely with a choke in the second round. According to Pimblett, Hooker's level of ground fighting was not high.
At the same time, the British fighter mentioned that he had previously actively participated in grappling competitions, but he is currently focused exclusively on MMA bouts. He added that every athlete is free to choose their path of development.
It is worth noting that at the UFC 324 event scheduled for January 24 in Las Vegas, Paddy Pimblett will attempt to capture the interim lightweight championship title in a match against Justin Gaethje, while Arman Tsarukyan is expected to serve as a backup fighter for that bout.
