Ilia Topuria to Appear in Court
UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria will appear in court in Mostoles, Spain, on January 7. According to Boxing News, the court session is due to charges of domestic violence, as reported by armsport.am.
The proceedings began following a statement from the athlete's ex-wife, Georgina Uzkatagi Badeli, who accuses Topuria of "domestic and gender-based violence," as well as causing bodily harm. In turn, the UFC champion denies all allegations, asserting that he has become a victim of extortion attempts.
The key topic of the hearings on January 7 will be the custody and welfare of the couple's minor daughter. It is noted that the child currently lives with her mother and grandmother.
Ilia's personal issues have already had serious repercussions on the UFC lightweight division. He has taken a break from his career at least until the first quarter of 2026.
In this situation, the UFC has scheduled a bout for an interim title, featuring Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje. This fight will headline the UFC 324 event set for January 25.
