Import and Sale of Electric Vehicles to be Exempt from VAT in 2026

The State Revenue Committee of Armenia has announced that, according to the law on amendments to the Tax Code of Armenia, effective from January 1, 2026, the import and sale of electric vehicles will be exempt from Value Added Tax (VAT).

Specifically:

1. From January 1, 2026, to January 31, 2026, the import and sale of electric vehicles classified under the EAEU Harmonized System codes 8702 40 000, 8703 80 000, 8704 60 000, and 8711 60 will be exempt from VAT.
2. From February 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, the import and sale of electric vehicles classified under the same EAEU codes that are manufactured after December 31, 2023, will also be exempt from VAT.

It is important to note that this law will come into force on January 1, 2026.
