Criminal Prosecution Initiated Against a HETC Inspector

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has launched a public criminal prosecution against G.H., an inspector from one of the branches of the Armenian Electric Networks (HETC). During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated by the main department for the investigation of especially important cases, it has been established that from June 6, 2024, to September 15, 2025, G.H. fraudulently misappropriated significant amounts of property.

During the aforementioned period, as a requirement of his position, G.H. presented falsified data regarding the electricity consumption reflected by the accounting device, instead of the actual readings recorded by the device monitoring the street lighting expenses of several streets in his service area. This deceitful act caused a substantial property damage amounting to 1,102,288 Armenian Drams to the local municipality.

A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against G.H. under Article 255, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code (large-scale fraud). G.H. has been arrested, and the preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
