Samuel Karapetyan Denied Visit to Father's Grave: Aram Vardevanyan

On December 30, 2025, the evidently unlawful detention of Samuel Karapetyan, which had been in effect since June 18, was replaced with house arrest and additional restrictions. This information was conveyed by lawyer Aram Vardevanyan.

“As is known, for followers of the Armenian Apostolic Church, every January following the Feast of the Nativity and Theophany is the Day of Commemoration of the Dead. The Day of Commemoration of the Dead was of utmost importance for Samuel Karapetyan, as it granted him the opportunity to visit his father's grave and mourn together with his close relatives. We appealed to both the investigator and the prosecutor regarding this matter. Today it became clear that this request has been denied.

The basic understanding of humanity is recognized even in conditions of warring countries, but the political persecution in the case of Samuel Karapetyan knows no bounds,” he wrote.
