Levon Aronian Among Top Earning Grandmasters in 2025

The top earning grandmaster in 2025 is Norwegian Magnus Carlsen. The 16th World Champion participated in 16 tournaments last year and earned $1.455 million, reports Chess.com.

In second place is American Fabiano Caruana, who took part in 19 tournaments and earned $889,000. Former Armenian team leader Levon Aronian, now representing the USA, rounds out the top three. He participated in 15 tournaments and earned $751,000.

The calculations included tournaments with a prize fund of at least $10,000 for a victory.
