Khachatur Sukiasyan on the Sale of Azerbaijani Gasoline
No one can force anyone to do anything in Armenia. This was stated by MP Khachatur Sukiasyan during a conversation with journalists in the yard of Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church in Yerevan, in response to the question of whether gas stations were compelled to sell Azerbaijani gasoline.
“Armenia has been importing petroleum products from various countries for the past 30 years. For decades, the transport routes have been closed for Armenia, and the country has paid substantial amounts in transportation costs. A rough calculation shows that if Armenia were to acquire 80% of the fuel it uses from its neighbors, it could save $80-100 million annually. If Armenia does not procure from its neighbors, they sell it 10,000 times more to various countries worldwide and always receive that money. Armenia could save $80-100 million and invest that sum in the development of other sectors,” the MP noted.
He further emphasized, “As for those childish, uneducated claims that $100,000 went for weapons, let me tell you that weapons are produced in different ways, and the logic of the economy is different. If you want to develop the economy, you need to have intelligence for that. I know well those who have random intelligence, as well as those who possess fundamental, deep knowledge.”
