EU Does Not Recognize Legitimacy of Both Former and Current President of Venezuela, Says European Commission
Ofelya
The European Union does not recognize the legitimacy of the current president of Venezuela, Delsi Rodriguez, just as it has not recognized the legitimacy of Nicolas Maduro. However, it will maintain limited contacts with the authorities of the republic. This was stated by European Commission representative Anita Hipper during a briefing in Brussels.
“Delsi Rodriguez took an oath as acting president of Venezuela, but the current authorities of Venezuela derived their mandate from elections that did not meet the aspirations for democratic change,” said European Commission representative Anita Hipper.
