We Hope the Ukraine Conflict Will Be Resolved by 2026: Orban

The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, has announced that Budapest hopes the ongoing conflict in Ukraine will be resolved by 2026, after which it may be possible to reconsider the sanctions imposed against Russia.

According to Orban, the European Union should lift the restrictions imposed on Russia following the end of the war. “We believe that once the war in Ukraine is over, the sanctions against Russia should be removed,” emphasized the Prime Minister of Hungary.

He reminded that they have long opposed the EU's sanctions policy, pointing out that these measures cause significant harm not only to individual countries but also to the entire European economy. Orban assessed that the consequences of the sanctions are particularly pronounced in the energy and industrial sectors.

The Hungarian authorities have repeatedly stated their support for peaceful resolution and diplomatic solutions, stressing that the prolongation of the conflict deepens economic and social problems in Europe.
