Sale of Horse Meat Prevented by Food Safety Inspectors

The Food Safety Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia continued its oversight activities in the meat market over the weekend. According to reports from the FSIB, a significant quantity of horse meat of unknown origin was discovered during inspections conducted in the Gegharkunik region by the inspectors of the Veterinary Authority.

According to the information received, the sale of horse meat was planned to take place in the vicinity of the "GUM" market in Yerevan, as well as in the city of Vanadzor. Thanks to the quick and coordinated actions of the FSIB inspectors, the sale of this meat was prevented. A total of 965 kg of the identified meat was confiscated and destroyed under the supervision of the inspectors. Oversight operations are ongoing.
