Approximately 11,500 Subscribers Left Without Power Due to Yesterday's Accident: Petrosyan Details
Today, shortly after midnight, starting from 02:00, power supply was restored in stages to almost 11,500 subscribers who were left without electricity due to yesterday's accident at the fully equipped and regulated "Vardashen" substation, as reported by the interim director of the Electricity Distribution Network (EDN), Romanos Petrosyan, on Facebook.
“By my directive, two separate Commissions were formed yesterday at EDN, composed of the Safety and Control Department and the Technical Department, to independently conduct an internal investigation in two directions: security-legal and energy-technical, in order to ascertain the true causes of this large-scale accident, to examine all circumstances, and to ensure a proper solution for future proceedings. Concurrently, preventive checks have also been carried out in dozens of other similar substations,” Petrosyan wrote.
He further added, “We again ask for the forgiveness and understanding of our citizens for the inconveniences caused by the current situation. At the same time, I must pay tribute and express my gratitude to the hundreds of employees of EDN and the dozens of specialists from partner organizations for their tireless work and devoted efforts over more than 48 hours.”
Romanos Petrosyan also stated that during the pre-holiday and holiday days, EDN has implemented a 24-hour enhanced standby duty across all operational areas of Yerevan and in all electricity networks of the regions of Armenia, ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply for our citizens and responding promptly to possible accidents in the distribution network for rapid restoration of disruptions and urgent power supply recovery.
All planned outages have also been canceled during the holiday period, except for those that are planned due to emergency situations. I wish our citizens a happy New Year,” Petrosyan concluded.
