Russia Interested in Lasting Peace in the South Caucasus: Kopirkin

The Russian Ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, noted in his New Year’s congratulatory message:

“In 2025, amidst growing geopolitical tensions and serious challenges, our countries continued dialogue on solutions to emerging issues and ways for further developing Armenian-Russian relations across all sectors—from politics and economics to education and culture. Active dialogue between our leaders remained a driver of bilateral relations throughout the past year. Existing mechanisms of interstate cooperation continued to operate smoothly. At the end of the year, Russia maintained its status as Armenia's leading economic and investment partner and a guarantor of the republic's energy and food security. Significant contributions were made through cooperation within joint integration formations, primarily within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, as membership brings Armenia tangible economic benefits.

Russia is vitally interested in lasting and just peace and security in the South Caucasus, as well as in the dynamic development and prosperity of its countries. We are ready to make the necessary investments to strengthen stability in the South Caucasus and to restore regional transport connections and trade-economic ties. I am confident that in the coming year we will have every opportunity to develop Armenian-Russian multilateral relations for the benefit of our peoples,” the Russian ambassador said in his message.
