European Leaders Hold New Talks on Ukraine Issue
German Chancellor Merz stated: "Today, another round of negotiations has taken place with European and Canadian partners in the Berlin format. We are advancing the peace process. It is now necessary to have transparency and honesty from all sides, including Russia."
Dutch Prime Minister Rutte also commented: "Work is ongoing at full force to provide Ukraine with reliable security guarantees. All efforts are directed towards achieving long-term peace for Ukraine. The 'Volunteers Coalition' will meet again next week."
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen added: "Ultimately, the flourishing of a free Ukrainian state hinges on its membership in the EU. This is, in itself, a fundamental guarantee of security. Membership brings benefits not only to the joining countries, as demonstrated by successive waves of enlargement, but also to all of Europe."
