EAEU and CIS Are Not Competitors; They Complement Each Other – Lebedev
The EAEU and the CIS are not competitors; these integration bodies complement and strengthen each other. This was stated by the Secretary General of the CIS, Sergey Lebedev, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, the CIS serves as a broad platform for dialogue and multilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues—from politics and security to economics, culture, and humanitarian ties.
“Over 35 years, we have established a solid legal framework and necessary mechanisms for such cooperation and are rightly considered a ‘laboratory of integration’, from which deeper forms of integration have subsequently emerged,” the Secretary General noted.
“The higher pace in the economic sector is logical; it was initially created as an integration project aimed at establishing supranational jurisdictions and creating a common market,” Lebedev explained.
