Blizzard and Black Ice: Roads Closed

The Rescue Service reports that there are closed roads within the territory of Armenia.

The roads from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and Karih Lake are closed. The Berd-Chambarak road is closed to all types of vehicles due to a blizzard. The section from the Jermuk intersection to the area known as "Zanger," as well as the Noravan-Ltsen-Tatev, Shinuhayr-Tatev-Kapan, Kajaran-Meghri, and Vanadzor-Dilijan roads are closed for trucks with trailers.

The Vardenyats Pass is impassable for trucks with trailers but accessible for other types of vehicles. The Yelpin-Vayk road is difficult for trucks with trailers. In the regions of Artik, Kapan, Sisian, Goris, Ashotzk, Amasia, Gavarr, Aparan, Aragats, Nairi, Spitak, Tumanyan, Chambarak, Martuni, Hrazdan, Tashir, Sevan, Abovyan, Hrazdan, Vayk, and Vanadzor, there are patches of black ice on the roads.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
