115 Million Dollars to be Invested in Electric Networks Infrastructure by 2026, Says Romanos Petrosyan
In 2026, the Electricity Networks of Armenia (HETC) plans to invest 44.2 billion Armenian drams (approximately 115 million dollars) in its infrastructure. This announcement was made by the interim manager of HETC, Romanos Petrosyan, during a session of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia.
According to Petrosyan, this investment is part of the company's previously approved investment program for the years 2024-2034. The budget has been allocated across various directions, particularly in areas where power outages occur most frequently.
“From the first day of January, we will announce tenders for renovation work to ensure that construction begins at all planned facilities (which number in the dozens) at the start of the construction season,” Petrosyan stated.
Petrosyan also noted that in the last four months of the previous year, the duration of power outages was reduced by about 27%, while their number decreased by 18%. In response to the recent major incident at the “Vardashen” substation in Yerevan, two commissions have been established to investigate the causes.
