Large Sum to Be Seized from Former NSS Official for the Benefit of Armenia

The former NSS official Serob Harutyunyan will have a total of 207,452,083 AMD seized for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia as part of the illegal asset confiscation proceedings. The Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Judge Karapet Badalyan, has accepted the lawsuit filed by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia.

According to the court's decision, immovable property on Northern Avenue, garages, as well as Serob Harutyunyan's share of the property located on Chekhov Street will be seized as illegally obtained assets for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia. In addition, a sum of 226,800 AMD will be seized for the benefit of the Republic for one month's rent received in January 2021 for the house on Chekhov Street, along with 2,691,093 AMD, which are unaccounted and illegally obtained income that was transferred to a diligent third party or is untraceable and cannot be forfeited, and 204,534,190 AMD as the surplus of illegal income resulting from the conversion or use of illegally obtained assets.

The court granted the requirement for the seizure of monetary funds from Serob Harutyunyan, both from the legally registered properties in his name and from the vehicle registered in the name of Harutyun Harutyunyan, which, according to the law, belongs to Serob Harutyunyan. The remainder of the Prosecutor General's lawsuit has been denied.
