Iran's Foreign Ministry Issues Statement Regarding Armenia

According to ISNA news agency, the spokesperson of Iran's Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, responded to a question from a Sputnik correspondent about the Armenian Prime Minister's statement regarding the desire to support the development of relations between Tehran and Yerevan and to sign a strategic partnership document with Iran.

The question particularly noted: “Considering that Armenia signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the United States in 2025, subsequently with the European Union, and has partially withdrawn from the Collective Security Treaty Organization, as well as taking into account Iran's issues with the European Union and the US in the area of sanctions, is Iran ready to sign a strategic partnership agreement with Armenia similar to its agreements with Russia and China?”

In response, Baghaei stated, “Iran regulates its relations based on national interests, and relations with Armenia are no exception to this rule. Our relations with Armenia are based on mutual interests, accurate perception of challenges, and commonalities. We have very good relations with this country and are determined to continue these relations in various fields.”

He also emphasized that Iran respects the fact that countries maintain relationships with other parties, provided that it does not harm Iran's relations and interests. “Our relations with other countries are formed based on the meticulous analysis of mutual interests and challenges, and our relations with Armenia and neighboring countries are regulated on that basis,” added Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson of Iran's Foreign Ministry.
