City Services Were Prepared in Advance on Site: Kamo Areyan on Snow Clearing Operations

During the operational meeting of the Yerevan City Hall, discussions were held regarding the snow clearing operations carried out over the weekend. The Mayor's advisor Kamo Areyan stated that city services were prepared in advance on site, and snow clearing activities commenced on time.

"All night long, the operations were monitored on the ground by the heads of the administrative districts. Without exception, all 12 administrative district heads were present and working," he noted.

According to Areyan, the clearing of roads continued during yesterday's daylight hours. He emphasized that the most challenging work was done last night. "The toughest work, strange as it may seem, was not so much dealing with the constant precipitation of the first night, but rather the sharp drop in temperature that happened last evening. We did everything to ensure that no problems arose in the city," he said, adding that work would continue today as well, with sidewalks and yards being cleared.

In response, Mayor Tigran Avinyan stated, "Indeed, this time our response was more operational, and we were better prepared. Nevertheless, considering that significant precipitation is expected on New Year's Eve, this means we still do not have time for relaxation in this regard. Our vehicles and on-duty personnel must be ready to ensure the city remains passable. There are still issues in elevated areas of some secondary streets. In the case of a sharp drop in temperature, salt and sand often do not help; however, it is necessary to plan certain actions."
