Blizzard on Sevan-Gavar Highway: Several Roads Closed

The emergency service reports that several roads in the Republic of Armenia are closed due to weather conditions.

The roads from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and Lake Khar are closed in the Aragatsotn region. The Berd-Chambarak road is closed to all types of vehicles due to a blizzard.

The road section from the Jermuk intersection to the area called "Zanger", as well as the Noravan-Ltzen-Tatev, Shinuhiar-Tatev-Kapan, Kajaran-Meghri, and Vanadzor-Dilijan roads, including the Vardenyats pass, are closed for vehicles with trailers.

Snow is falling in the regions of Aparan, Aragats, Abovyan, Hrazdan, Sevan, Chambarak, Gavar, Vayk, Sisian, Goris, Meghri, Ani, Artik, Ashotzk, and surrounding areas.

In the area known as "Meghri's mountain" and on the Sevan-Gavar highway, there is a blizzard. Areas around Artik, Kapan, Sisian, Goris, Ashotzk, Amasia, Gavar, Aparan, Aragats, Nairi, Spitak, Tumanyan, Chambarak, Martuni, Hrazdan, Tashir, Sevan, Martuni, Gavar, Abovyan, Hrazdan, Vayk, and Vanadzor have areas with black ice on the roads.

Drivers are urged to travel exclusively with winter tires.

Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for trucks.
