Thailand and Cambodia Agree to Establish Ceasefire

Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to a ceasefire to end weeks of deadly clashes. The countries have reached an immediate 72-hour ceasefire along their shared border.

The agreement was announced following the meeting of the 3rd Special Joint Boundary Committee, co-chaired by the defense ministers of both countries.

The ceasefire will come into effect on Saturday at noon local time, with both sides committing to halt all armed military operations and to avoid unprovoked fire or troop movements.

The agreement applies to the entire border and extends to military positions, civilians, and critical infrastructure.

In the last three weeks of clashes, approximately 99 people have been reported killed, including Thai soldiers, civilians, and Cambodian civilians, according to authorities from both countries.
