Snow Expected: Air Temperature to Decrease by 5-7 Degrees Across the Republic

With the penetration of a cold atmospheric front from the northwest, snow is expected throughout the republic starting from the afternoon of December 27 until the evening, with significant snowfall predicted in certain areas during the night of December 27 to 28 and the morning of December 28. On December 28, snow will also fall during the day in Gegharkunik, Ararat, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik. In specific regions of the mountainous areas of the republic, an intensifying wind of 17-20 m/s is expected, along with blizzard conditions and low horizontal visibility. The air temperature across the entire territory of the republic will decrease by 5-7 degrees between December 28 and 30.

In Yerevan, light snow is expected in the late evening of December 27, during the night of December 27 to 28, and in the morning of December 28. Throughout the territory of the republic, snow is forecasted during the day of December 27, at night and in the morning of December 28, as well as during the day on December 28, 29, and 31, and on January 1 in some regions. Heavy snowfall is expected late on December 27 and in some areas on December 28.

From the night of December 29 to the day of December 30, and on the night of December 31, dry weather is anticipated. The wind is expected to be north-western at 2-5 m/s. On December 27, wind gusts of 17-20 m/s are forecasted in certain places from December 29 to 31. During the day of December 27 and on December 28, localized blizzards are expected in mountainous areas, with low horizontal visibility.

Especially during the nights and morning hours of December 28-30, black ice is anticipated on the republic’s roads. The air temperature will gradually decrease by 5-8 degrees from December 28 to 30. In Yerevan, snow is expected during the day on December 27, as well as at night and in the morning on December 28. Light snow is expected on December 28 and 29 during the day, in the evening of December 31, and on January 1. There is no precipitation forecast during the night of December 29, during the day of December 30, and the night of December 31.
