Iran Has Executed the Most Death Sentences in the Last 20 Years

New data shows that Iran has executed the most death sentences in the last 20 years as part of its campaign against individuals suspected of espionage. The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has revealed that this year the Iranian regime has executed 1,922 people, which is double the number compared to the previous year.

The number of executions sharply increased after the 12-day war that took place in June, when Israel struck various targets within Iran. The monthly executions rose from just over 100 to more than 300 by November, according to the organization’s annual report.

Kamran Dalir, spokesperson for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), characterized the internal turmoil in the country as a “powder keg that could explode at any moment.”
