Snow Cover in Mountainous Regions May Increase by Up to 150-200 cm

The Director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, Levon Azizyan, reports: "In the coming days, heavy and prolonged precipitation in the form of snow is expected along the Black Sea coast. According to the ICON model forecast, from December 26 to 31, 80 to 200 mm of snow is expected in Krasnodar Krai, Abkhazia, and Georgia. This corresponds to an increase in snow cover by 80 to 200 cm, as 1 mm of precipitation is roughly equivalent to about 1 cm of snow.

In mountainous areas, the snow cover may reach heights of up to 150-200 cm. The worsening weather will be accompanied by intensified winds, with gusts in coastal areas reaching 15-20 m/s, and in the mountains, 30-35 m/s."
