New Decision on the Duration of Temporary Protection (Refugee) Certificates
The government has approved the extension of the duration for temporary protection (refugee) certificates. This was announced by the Migration and Citizenship Service.
“Dear compatriots, by the RA Government's decision No. 1934-N dated December 25, 2025, amendments have been made to the RA Government decision No. 1864-N of 2023, extending the duration of the temporary protection status until December 31, 2026. You can continue to use your temporary protection certificate, which does not have a specified expiration date but includes a QR code. Therefore, the system will automatically extend the validity of the card until December 31, 2026.
It is not mandatory to present the temporary protection certificate when crossing the border for entry. If the passport has changed after receiving the temporary protection certificate (lost, expired, damaged), it is necessary to submit an application to obtain a certificate with the new details, as the temporary protection certificate is issued only based on a valid passport.
We also inform you that before crossing the border, you can check the QR code on your card, which indicates the validity period of the certificate,” the announcement states.
