Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia Reveals Expectations from Moscow After AZAL Plane Crash

Baku is awaiting the conclusion of the investigation into the AZAL plane crash and expects immediate compensation, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia, Rakhman Mustafaev, told Lenta.ru. The diplomat also expressed hope that those responsible for the tragedy would be held accountable.

“The statements made in Dushanbe on October 9 and the agreements reached are important steps in this direction,” he noted.

Mustafaev added that the fundamental issue in Moscow-Baku relations today is the prompt and fair resolution of questions related to the plane crash.

It is recalled that the Embraer-190 aircraft crashed on December 25, 2024, near the port of Aktau. There were 67 people on board, of which 38, including six citizens of Kazakhstan, perished. The incident has heightened tensions in Azerbaijan-Russia relations, as reports suggest that the aircraft was damaged in Russian airspace.
