Russia Considers the Possibility of Supplying Fertilizers to Armenia via Azerbaijan: Ovechuk
In addition to grain supplies to Armenia through Azerbaijan, Russia is discussing the possibility of supplying fertilizers. The possibility of ensuring return freight transport is also being studied, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Ovechuk.
“An important event took place, and we consider it truly significant. (In early November - ed.) the first train carrying Russian grain passed through Azerbaijan and Georgia to Armenia. This means that for the first time in more than 30 years and for the first time since the independence of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, a train carrying grain passed... Then Kazakh grain followed. We are also discussing the possibility of loading this line with other types of cargo, such as fertilizers,” Ovechuk said in an interview on the Russia 24 television channel.
He also noted that a train carrying oil products recently arrived in Armenia from Azerbaijan. Moscow and Yerevan are also discussing the possibility of sending cargo in the opposite direction.
“We are also talking about ensuring back freight transport from Armenia to Russia through Azerbaijan. These are advancements that seemed unbelievable recently,” Ovechuk added.
