Armenia and the USA Intensify Agricultural Cooperation, Reports SATCM
The head of the State Food Safety Service of Armenia, Tigran Petrosyan, hosted Rishan Choudhry, the agricultural attaché for trade at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Demna Djirkvadze, a senior agricultural specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, and Ben Cairn from the USDA in Washington, who is involved in managing support projects for Armenia and Georgia.
Discussions focused on the export of agricultural products from Armenia to the United States, particularly veterinary and phytosanitary products, the development of laboratory capabilities, digitalization of systems, and matters related to product traceability. Rishan Choudhry emphasized the U.S. Department of Agriculture's willingness to support the Armenian food safety regulatory body in addressing potential challenges in these areas.
Tigran Petrosyan informed the guests that Armenia has begun preparatory work to join the 'ePhyto' program, with the system's launch planned for 2026. This will make it easier for Armenian producers to export agricultural products to the USA.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to deepen cooperation between the respective authorities of the two countries, which will simultaneously serve as an impetus for the diversified development of the market.
