Vagif Khachatryan Sentenced in Baku Calls Family

Recently, 69-year-old Vagif Khachatryan, sentenced to 15 years in prison in Baku, established contact with his family. This was reported to 168.am by Vagif Khachatryan’s daughter, Vera Khachatryan.

“My father called us on December 19, saying he is well. He calls once a month for a few minutes, with the Azerbaijani side organizing these calls. We don’t talk in detail; he tries to speak with every family member for a few seconds, so he can hear everyone's voice,” Vera Khachatryan noted.

It is worth mentioning that in July 2023, Vagif Khachatryan, a citizen of the Republic of Artsakh, was abducted by the Azerbaijani side from the Hakari Bridge. He was on his way to Yerevan for heart surgery, accompanied by his daughter.

We recall that since September 3 of this year, the International Committee of the Red Cross office in Baku has been closed at the request of the authorities. As a result, Armenian prisoners and hostages unlawfully held in Baku have lost their only means of contacting their families.
