Russian-Ukrainian Conflict Requires Compromises from Both Sides, Tokayev

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the complexity of resolving the conflict in Ukraine during a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, as reported by the press service of Kazakhstan's leader.

"Our state leader emphasized the intricacy of settling the Ukrainian conflict, where territorial issues are predominant and require compromises from both sides, taking into account the current reality on the ground," the statement said.

Tokayev clarified that the country does not assume the role of a mediator but is prepared to provide a platform for negotiations if necessary.

He reaffirmed his readiness to implement the agreements reached during his visit to Washington this November.

"This morning, I had two wonderful phone conversations with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. We discussed the importance of establishing peace in ongoing conflicts, as well as the expansion of trade and cooperation between our countries. Relations with both countries are excellent," U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted.
