Current Favorable and Constructive Changes Create New Opportunities, Says Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council meeting in Saint Petersburg. The meeting was welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Initially, a narrow-format meeting took place, followed by an extended session.

In his speech, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated, “Dear leaders of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, esteemed attendees, I am pleased to welcome you to the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council meeting. Taking this opportunity, I would like to sincerely thank President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin for the hospitality and excellent organization of today’s meeting. I would also like to wish the Republic of Kazakhstan successful and efficient work during its upcoming presidency.”

“Dear participants of the meeting, this year we are summarizing the implementation of the strategic directions for the development of Eurasian economic integration until 2025, within which a significant practical experience of cooperation has been accumulated. In this context, we are currently developing further development guidelines for Eurasian economic integration based on the results achieved. At this stage, it is essential to ensure a clear distinction between the fields of application of supranational mechanisms and those sectors where national jurisdictions and sovereign decisions maintain priority, which will ensure the sustainability of integration processes.”

“This year has been particularly significant in terms of the EEU's international cooperation. Cooperation with our main partners—Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Mongolia, China, and India—is expanding, while new markets are opening, contributing to the diversification of exports and imports and strengthening the EEU's positions in the global economy. In this context, of course, we welcome the signing of the free trade agreement with the Republic of Indonesia.”

“The Republic of Armenia also values constructive dialogue with observer countries that show consistent interest in cooperation with the EEU. Ensuring the unhindered operation of the internal market is one of the priority objectives of integration. This implies the systematic elimination of obstacles, digitization and simplification of regulatory procedures, as well as the creation of equal competitive conditions for all participants in the economic process.”

“I am confident that the Commission, together with the governments of the member states, must continue to address sensitive issues through the development of mutually acceptable arrangements. Let me emphasize the prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics based on the principles of mutuality, equality, sovereignty, and national jurisdictions. In this context, I would like to point out that the favorable and constructive changes taking place create new opportunities for all countries in the broader region, contributing to the strengthening of economic stability and the expansion of regional communications.”

“In this regard, I express my appreciation to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for his decision to unblock the transit of cargoes through Azerbaijan to Armenia, as well as creating conditions for the initiation of bilateral trade. This is one of the first significant achievements in establishing peace and stability in the region.”

“Colleagues, in recent years, the importance of the services sector in our economies has been steadily increasing. This sector constitutes a significant portion of GDP and employment. The functioning of a unified services market improves the quality and competitiveness of suppliers, simplifies procedures, and creates a more favorable environment for business. We believe that the development of this direction should be more dynamic, as it directly affects the economic growth of the EEU member states.”
