Zelensky Responds to Putin's Proposal

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has stated that elections will not be held in the occupied territories. This announcement was made during a joint press conference with Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro.

Zelensky responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin's suggestion to count the votes of citizens living in Russian-held areas if elections take place in Ukraine. “Elections cannot be held in areas not controlled by Ukraine, as it is clear how they would be conducted,” said Zelensky.

At the same time, he acknowledged that Kyiv may face organizational difficulties in conducting elections due to the large number of Ukrainians living abroad. According to the state leader, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on creating voting infrastructure for citizens living outside the country.
