Two Passenger Trains Collide in the U.S., Many Injured
In New Jersey, USA, a collision occurred between two passenger trains, causing one of the trains to partially derail. News 12 New Jersey reported the incident.
According to New Jersey Transit, the incident took place on the Montclair–Boonton line, in an area west of the Bay Street station in Montclair. A total of 17 people were injured in the accident, but their lives are not in danger.
The internal police of New Jersey Transit is investigating the circumstances of the incident, and the causes of the collision are still unknown. Chris Kolluri, the company’s CEO, arrived at the scene, and representatives from the National Transportation Safety Board are also expected to arrive to join the investigation.
Train traffic along the Montclair–Boonton line has been temporarily suspended in both directions. Bus services are being organized for passengers, accepting rail tickets and passes. New Jersey Transit has emphasized that the safety of passengers, staff, and emergency services remains a priority in this situation.
